We have previously mentioned “Physical AI”, the "Next Wave" in generative AI, in our previous article, and this time we would like to introduce RLWRLD, a physical AI startup in which KDDI has recently invested.

RLWRLD is a Korea-based startup developing Robotics Foundation Model (RFM) AI.

Unlike language-based LLM, the RFM is a fundamental technology for AI that operates in real world, and is a next-generation AI that will be essential for integration with various industries that involve physical movement, particularly in manufacturing, logistics, and service industries.

Through its unique AI architecture, proprietary datasets, and interoperability technologies between AI and robots, RLWRLD is conducting research and development to actualize practical AI solutions that can be used primarily in manufacturing.

While many startup companies have recently emerged in this area, especially in the U.S., and have attracted attention by successfully fundraising with huge amounts, RLWRLD also plans to actively develop advanced and precise hand movements using all five fingers, something its competitors have yet to achieve.

In addition to KDDI, many other strategic investors, mainly from the corporate sector, such as ANA, Mitsui Chemicals, and Shimadzu Corporation from Japan, and LG Electronics and SK Telecom from Korea, are also joining this funding round, and it is expected that business collaboration with each company will be more prevalent. I’m really excited about how we can see the acceleration of future partnerships in the near future.
