Knowledge Jan 22, 2025 Trend Report: Highlight from 2025 CES, Holliday

KDDI America

GenAI Summit San Fransisco 2024

Introduction

CES, known as one of the world's largest exhibitions of consumer products and technologies, was held in Las Vegas again this year.

Last year, the Rabbit R1, which I previously wrote about here, was unveiled at CES and attracted the interest of many visitors, but this year, the AI smart glasses announced by a startup called Halliday have caught everybody’s attention.

What is Holliday?

Halliday, a global wearable technology startup founded in 2021, announced its innovative AI smart glasses "Halliday Glasses" on January 5th to coincide with CES.

This product is equipped with the world's smallest eye display "DigiWindow", which displays a circular display 3.5 inches in the upper right corner of the user's line of sight. Conventional smart glasses often project text and images on the lens, but by adopting DigiWindow display, Halliday Glasses eliminates the need for expensive AR glasses and can be provided at a relatively low cost.

In addition, the smart glasses will have a built-in proactive AI assistant that will be able to proactively determine and support the user's needs based on the context of the conversation, such as real-time translation of conversations in different languages and transcription of conversations. Proactive AI is still under development, and I would like to try it out as soon as possible to see how it performs.

It is also important to note that compared to other smart glasses, it has a very light and slim shape, which makes it look like ordinary glasses. Since DigiWindow is adopted, it is said that it is also possible to add prescription lenses.

Halliday Glasses are scheduled to ship in March 2025 and are expected to cost $489. As text-based LLMs such as ChatGPT and Gemini have developed, AI-powered gadgets have appeared one after another, but I don't think there are any gadgets that are widely used yet.

Endnote

I would like to see if this product can change people's lives, and I would like to actually use the product and experience it for myself.
