Butlr provides AI solutions for buildings that use proprietary wireless sensors and computer vision technology to capture heat-only data to accurately track the movement, body temperature, occupancy, etc. of people in a space in real time.
Since it does not use any cameras, it is possible to prevent identification of individuals based on their appearance, which helps companies to obtain valuable data in a privacy-friendly manner. The lack of cameras also helps its cost to be lower than solutions requiring cameras.
By managing the space using the collected data, it is utilized for considering the expansion / contraction of the office, optimizing the layout, efficient cleaning, etc.
In addition to offices, it is also expected to be used in other means such as with nursing homes.
Butlr is a startup company from MIT and their solution is currently employed by companies such as Walmart, Netflix, and Microsoft in the United States.
The company is planning to expand their business to Japan, too.
In the U.S., we often hear about AI solutions for the purpose of spatial understanding and analysis for offices and stores. This trend is worth following.
