Knowledge Sep 18, 2024 Trend Report: AI Turning into Super App? New AI App Hero and It’s Presence

KDDI America

GenAI Summit San Fransisco 2024

Recently, the market has seen the introduction of both AI devices and software.

AI applications that run on existing smartphones, rather than new gadgets or hardware, are in fierce competition, mainly with big tech such as ChatGPT, Apple Intelligence, and Gemini.

Hero, newly launched on the App Store, recently, is also attracting attention.

What is Hero?

Hero is an AI daily assistant with a voice-guided user interface that works with commonly used apps on smartphones (weather, calendar, email, reminders, AI chatbots, delivery, etc.) to complete everyday tasks all in a single app.

Not only can you check schedules and delivery orders on Hero, but you can also collaborate with others by setting reminders for shared scheduling with friends and family with messaging and more.

In the future, functions such as sleep analysis and travel are planned to be added.

The Future of AI Assistants

In fact, there is a view among tech geeks that AI assistants will become a “super app”, and it can be said that Hero is on track to become exactly that.

Hero incorporates the latest technology in its own concept and in the backend. It features Groq, which recently announced $640M in Series D funding.

Groq provides the infrastructure that includes a chipset focused on AI inference, making it ideal for speeding up a variety of operations in a multi-function app like Hero.

In fact, KDDI Open Innovation Fund has also invested in Groq, and Hero is a service that we should keep an eye on as one of Groq's use cases. It may not be long before the smartphone screen, which inevitably fills up with apps, will be wiped out, and one super app like Hero will become the gateway for all services.
