Knowledge Apr 25, 2024 Trend Report: "2024 NVIDIA GTC Report – Next Generation Startups –"

KDDI America

NVIDIA GTC (GPU Technology Conference) 2024 is a conference for developers held annually in San Jose, USA, focusing on AI and computer graphics. It attracts many developers, engineers, researchers, inventors, IT specialists, startups, and others from around the world. This event, which began in 2009, initially focused on GPUs but in recent years has expanded its scope to include various applications of AI and deep learning such as autonomous driving, healthcare, and entertainment.

In this month’s Trend Report, I am introducing you to the startups from the conference which I found interesting!

Nuro R3 EV

Founded by a former Waymo engineer, Nuro has unveiled the Nuro R3 EV, an autonomous electric robotaxi equipped with Nuro Driver AI. The vehicle has been transformed into an unmanned snack and drink vending car, which users are able to open and close the vending doors themselves using a touchscreen attached to the vehicle's exterior. Items picked up are automatically added to a cart through camera monitoring, and payment is processed accordingly. Operations are set to commence in California and Texas in the latter half of 2024.

Artly

A startup founded in 2020, Artly specializes in developing AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) robots for coffee enthusiasts. Their AI-powered robot barista was seen providing coffee to attendees at the venue, while flawlessly handling different levels of tasks from equipment cleaning to latte art. This product is now operational at Pier 39, a tourist spot in San Francisco.

Apptronik

Apptronik, a company developing next-generation humanoid robots, has partnered with Nvidia to enhance humanoid robot learning. By combining Nvidia's new general-purpose platform model (GR00T) with their own technology, they will be able to achieve human-like movements, such as serving juice to humans when needed or requested.
